Cricket

"I hate to say it, but we should probably wake her up soon."

"But she's so warm. I never want to let her go."

Waking up to Hollis and Theo speaking softly is really nice. My back is pressed against one of their chests, and a strong arm is wrapped around my waist while a hand strokes my hair.

"Good morning, Luna." Theo smiles when I open my eyes.

I smile at the nickname until the events from the night before come crashing back. I stick my bottom lip out and whine, feeling completely miserable. Theo leans closer and lightly tugs on my bottom lip with his teeth.

When I pull away and glare at him, he laughs. "You shouldn't stick that out if you don't want me to bite it, little witch."

"You shouldn't do that in front of Hollis." I try to sound stern, but my voice just sounds all gross and croaky.

Hollis hums in amusement and nuzzles my hair, leaving a kiss just under my ear. "I don't mind."

It seems like Theo's going to lean in to kiss me fully this time, so I quickly tilt my chin down and close my eyes. "I don't think it's a good idea. I don't want to hurt you guys anymore. You keep telling me you're fine with this, but I don't want you to feel jealous or fight with each other. I've been causing so much drama and heartache since we met."

Hollis tightens his arm around me, and Theo stares at me in alarm. He sucks in a sharp breath. "You're breaking up with us?"

"No!" I shout louder than I mean to. I turn onto my back so I can face them at the same time. "Not at all. I love you both so much. It's just, I felt so sick and completely distraught when I saw Cas and—" I swallow, unable to say her name out loud. "There's no way I can keep doing that to you guys. If you feel even a fraction of the pain and jealousy I felt last night, I don't think I can live with myself."

"That was different," Hollis says, stroking my cheek softly.

"Please, I don't want to talk about it anymore. This weekend can just be, like, a mini-break for us. I know Cas doesn't want to be my mate, and that's...that's fine. I don't blame him, but I don't want to lose the two of you or mess up again."

"You think Cas rejected you as a mate?" Theo asks, gazing at me intensely.

"Please," I moan and squeeze my eyes shut. I can already feel tears pricking at the corners of my eyes. "Please don't make me talk about it."

"Okay," Theo says hesitantly. "But we can at least snuggle together, right? We're going to miss you so much this weekend. It's going to be torture being away from you."

It's probably a bad idea, but I bite my lip and nod. Hollis scoots over to make room for Theo in the bed so I end up squished between them. Even though it feels like a piece of my heart is missing, I can't help sighing in content.
